THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an efficient Histotechnician to section FFPE tissue blocks. Our laboratory is quickly expanding and histology is a critical part of our data generation process. This role will work closely with additional histology team members to accelerate our processing pace.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a contract Histotechnician role with the potential for conversion to a full time position in the future. The schedule is flexible between 20-40 hours per week on site in South San Francisco; at least some hours must fall between 9am-4pm weekdays to allow for close coordination with the team. Success in this role will require a determination to operate efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Sectioning FFPE blocks and mounting tissue on slides
- Reembedding FFPE tissues in paraffin
- Additional histology responsibilities, which may include routine staining, biosample storage, and general maintenance of the area
- Collaborating with team members to enable efficient histology operations to support data generation and analysis at scale
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of hands-on histology experience
- Experience within complex, fast-paced environments a plus
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Strong track record in exceeding expectations, with a drive for efficiency
- Exceptional laboratory skills for sectioning and mounting FFPE tissue
- Detail and quality oriented
- General histology laboratory experience
- Team player, eager to unblock bottlenecked steps
