Testing Intern

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform sample imaging and collect the data appropriately
- Support with the mechanical testing of our product and samples as needed.
- Contribute to general lab space organization and cleaning
- Coordinate the testing and shipping of samples to external laboratories.
- Troubleshoot issues related to imaging or mechanical Quality Control testing.
- Perform data collection and document all research observations
- Use materials science lab equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support them as needed
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of quality control processes
- Build Quality Control procedures and write Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines
- Comply with company lab policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Understands the importance of accuracy related to Quality Control (QC) tests.
- Knowledge of mechanical testing like tensile, tear tests.
- Familiarity with the scientific method
- Comfortable working within a laboratory setting.
- Ability to perform math pertinent to protocol execution
- Ability to communicate cross functionality with teammates
- Ability to document data with integrity
- Basic ability to use Word processing and data management software
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with the Instron testing machine is a plus
- Comfortable learning quickly when faced with unfamiliar tasks and new tools
- Exposure to protocols for mechanical performance testing of materials
- Familiarity with statistical methods, design of experiment, and data analysis/ visualization programs (g., JMP)
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or pursuing a degree in Material Science, Mechanical engineering, or related field with relevant exposure to laboratory work outside of required coursework desired
- Laboratory experience.
Albany Pay Range: $15.00 - $17.00
This is a temporary internship position that will run for 10 weeks.
