Principal Responsibilities

We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and driven expert to oversee the management, strategy, and execution of Checkerspot’s IT infrastructure as well as Global IT Business Applications. The successful candidate will have significant experience in managing the support of a high growth company and developing the necessary policies and procedures, ensuring the implementation of a robust and compliant, cyber protected network and related IT cloud-based environments. The ideal candidate will play a role in ensuring the seamless operation and optimization of our ERP and other business applications, contributing to the overall effectiveness of our organization. This role will be responsible for directing daily operational activities of IT systems in support of the Company’s mission critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure and Cyber Security

  • Define and execute a strategic information systems vision
  • Develop written policies and procedures in accordance with standard business continuity practices as well as regulatory compliance
  • Manage IT staff including recruitment, training, and performance management
  • Cost effective management of IT department budget aligned with organization goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with and guide leadership and external partners to design and prioritize information system projects
  • Hands-on support of organizational IT needs from simple desktop support to maintenance/implementation of various security, network, system applications
  • Scope, implement and execute Cybersecurity strategy
  • Create/maintain processes, policies and implement IT enterprise infrastructure including network (including WAN, LAN, Wireless, SDWAN, switching, routing, VPNs and firewalls), compute, storage, virtualization, database, directory, authentication, monitoring, identity, access and remote access services
  • Responsible for Data Integrity and Security by enforcing data governance policies to maintain data accuracy, integrity and security

Global Business Applications

  • Responsible for ongoing support of critical business applications: ERP (Netsuite), P2P (Coupa), CRM (Hubspot), HRIS (UKG), DTC Order Management (Shopify), Other (Notion and others)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business processes and enhance the ERP and other business applications to meet organizational needs
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure uninterrupted business operations
  • Collaborate and co-lead selection and manage implementation of new critical systems to align with operations: e.g. HRIS, e-Commerce integration, CRM, Lab Information systems, etc. as required

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide general IT support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Regularly communicate initiatives with affected teams and the company as a whole
  • Present status of department programs to the executive management team, including on-going and regular collaboration with the stakeholders and department leaders
  • Manage and direct overall IT applications budget
  • Create and update documentation for critical IT systems with eye toward compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements (e.g. ITGC)

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT Engineering or similar field, and/ or equivalent industrial certification
  • 8+ years of relevant management work experience e.g., IT Engineer/Manager/Leadership
  • Strong understanding of business processes, particularly in a commercial environment with fluency in Manufacturing Resource Planning Cycle, manufacturing and warehouse/fulfillment operations and commercial Order to Cash Cycle
  • Extensive experience with desktop support in a heterogeneous environment (Windows and Mac OS)
  • Knowledge of best practices in managing a technical support helpdesk
  • Extensive knowledge of application development/maintenance or operations/infrastructure management: Experience with Netsuite and Coupa a plus
  • Extensive experience with multi-site networking, including security and privacy
  • IT experience in a SOX 404 environment a plus
  • Experience implementing, testing and maintaining cloud-based data backup and recovery procedures
  • Experience with cloud-based IT infrastructure (AWS, Google Platform, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience in technology risk assessment and management
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required to identify and resolve issues
  • Ability to tackle and solve challenging start-up and scalability issues that require resourcefulness, creative thinking, and collaboration
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with excellent critical-thinking, and solid problem-solving and time-management skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams

BENEFITS

At Checkerspot, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay for this role is between $122,000 and $188,000 and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
