Title: Product Specialist 1 (Seasonal)

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Checkerspot designs performance materials at a molecular level with technology at the nexus of biology and chemistry. By engaging directly with product users and partnering with socially responsible corporations, we design and bring to market superior products with better materials to meet real needs.

Our first materials are next-gen polyurethanes and textile coatings/finishes that make consumer products perform at levels never before possible. We launched WNDR Alpine, an outdoor recreation brand whose first product is a high performance ski, the Intention 110. We are readying the release of several other outdoor recreation products in the market to validate our approach and to kickstart a sequence of iterative projects based on our technology. Through large scale microbial fermentation, we can deliver unique oils discovered in nature, but not previously accessible commercially. Our initial focus is on triglycerides that can impart high value physical properties for materials by leveraging unique molecular scaffolds. Our approach is also more sustainable than relying on petrochemical inputs.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
We seek an ambitious, mission driven, creative problem solver to join our team as a Product Specialist 1. This position is responsible for building skis, snowboards, and splitboards from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, cutting raw materials, assembling bases, pressing skis/boards, tuning and finishing, pressing bootplates and binding insert packs, making foam, and improving general production processes. Additionally, the PS1 is responsible for maintaining strong feedback loops of communication with fellow team members in an effort to maintain 90% A graded product. [This is a highly collaborative role. It requires establishing collaborative and trusting relationships with Checkerspot’s key internal leaders and stakeholders in order to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and information across the business, leading to strategy formulation and overall business performance enhancement.]

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Build skis and snowboards from raw materials to finished consumer products
● Bend, cut, and fit metal edges
● Work with fiberglass and a two-part resin system
● Operate a bandsaw, laminate trimmer, and ski tuning equipment
● Conduct quality control
● Sort flashing and waste material
● Work in a collaborative, team environment
● Maintain a safe work environment
● Additional job duties as assigned

KEY REQUIREMENTS
● Keen attention to detail
● Comfortable working with a variety of hand tools
● Ability to prioritize and stay on task for extended periods of time
● Knowledge of CNC operation is a bonus
● Two years experience working in a workshop or manufacturing facility

BENEFITS
The base pay for this role is $22.50 per hour. This is a full-time, seasonal role and is not eligible for company provided benefits other than those required by state and federal law.
